The Weinberg Award

The Weinberg Award recognizes individuals for their significant lifetime career contributions to the profession of higher education real estate and for advancing the professional development of the real estate function within higher education.

Recipients

Form of the award

The form of the award shall be determined by the officers of AUREO each time an individual is designated to receive the award.

Frequency of the award

The award shall be given at the discretion of the officers of AUREO. There is no requirement that it be made at any given frequency. Multiple awards can be made in any one year. When made, the award shall be presented at the annual conference. The award will only be granted when it is determined that there is a member whose lifetime career contribution to the profession of higher education real estate is significantly noteworthy.

Selection process

Members of AUREO shall nominate individuals to receive the Weinberg Award. The Selection Committee shall recommend recipients to the officers. The officers will unanimously agree on individuals to receive the Weinberg Award using any appropriate forum available to them. If an officer is recommended to receive the award, that officer will recuse themselves from deliberations.

Eligibility to receive award

Any current member of AUREO who is currently in a first tier real estate position with their institution is eligible to receive the award. Officers shall be eligible to receive the award.

Selection criteria

An individual shall be selected to receive the award whose lifetime career has been dedicated to higher education real estate, and who has made significant contribution to their institution, higher education, and the furtherance of the profession during their lifetime.
