About the 2017 AUREO Conference Host University:
The University of Washington, commonly referred to as “U-Dub”, is a public flagship research university in Seattle, Washington. It opened on November 4, 1861, as the Territorial University of Washington, and it is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast. The original site of the University was a 10-acre tract of land located to the north of Pioneer Square, the commercial hub of Seattle at the time. The University relocated from downtown to its present location in 1895 but retained ownership of the original 10-acre tract of land. Known as the Metropolitan Tract, today it is among the most valuable pieces of real estate in the heart of downtown Seattle.
